Suction hydraulic filters are installed directly into the water jacket, and are connected with the suction line. The filter consists of a filtering material that is supported by an internal perforated tube and is connected to the end caps with a high quality glue.
Disposable items made of paper (cellulose) are used in filters with purifications thinner than 40 μm. Suction filters can be with an indicator of pollution - visual or electrical. The through valve opens at a pressure of 30 kPa (4.5 bar).
Scope of application
This type of filter is designed for filtration of liquids and lubricants, as well as industrial liquids and gases. The most important component of the filter is the filter element, on the degree of filtration of which depends the work of the equipment. Suction filters can also be completed with additional options (sensor of pollution, pressure gauge, overpass valve).
The suction filter is installed on a line of the suction line of the pump so that the product is in a hydraulic tank below the liquid level. This filter serves to protect the pump from mechanical contamination contained in mineral oils.
Types of suction filters for hydraulics
Suction filters protect the pump from coarse particles of contamination. Specialists distinguish 3 series of equipment:
1. External (FAS series) - for mounting above the oil level.
2. Immersed (STR series) - completely immersed in the tank and attached to the end of the suction line.
3. Semi-immersed (SF2 series) - for mounting under the oil level.
Replacement of filter elements
The filter elements are the main component of the suction filter. They are intended to hold out foreign particles, such as:
• mechanical fractions that appear in the process of heat treatment, metalworking and welding;
• the remaining particles in the hydraulic system, and also get into it during refueling;
• particles penetrating through breather filters along with air masses.
It is recommended to use filter elements made of the following types of materials, such as:
• FC, FT, FV, FD - are made of inorganic fibers having a filtration rate of 6, 3, 12, 25 μm;
• MCV, MS, RT, MDC - made of a steel wire mesh with a filtration rate of 10, 25, 30, 60, 90, 125, 250 μm.
Since the filter elements for the suction filter are subject to one-time use, they must be replaced by the degree of contamination. This is reported by the indicator signal. If this is not the case, it is necessary to disassemble the tank, remove the filter element, inspect and replace it.
